Working 14 hours a week from home, I look after all the administrational duties of the Parish Council. I joined a major UK Brewer after graduation and enjoyed 10 years within various departments and roles. We moved to South Gloucestershire in 2004 to be closer to family as we started to raise our own. For the last 5 years we have been happy in Wickwar and I have been involved raising our son and with various local committees including toddlers and PTA. In my spare time I love walking and cycling. Reading and crosswords / puzzles are one of my favourite pastimes when I can’t get out and about. .

Happily married with two children: my son is doing his PHD at Glasgow University and my daughter has just got married (Our other son passed away in 2006 with Ewings cancer). Having taken much from the local community, serving as a Parish Councillor goes some way to putting something back. I attend the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Yate, where I have the (unpaid) role of Area Employment Resource Specialist covering the West of England and South Wales. My interests are family history, railways and 45rpm record collecting.

My husband and I moved to Charfield in 1996 when the Ministry of Defence moved most of its Procurement Executive out of London to Abbey Wood.  I have worked in the home Civil Service since 1974 both in the Property Services Agency and the Building & Friendly Societies Commissions. Michael and I have been married for 37 years, we do not have children, but we do have 2 dogs. My main hobby is membership of the Scout Association. I had my first warrant (with the Guide Association) in 1965 and have had warrants almost continually since then, both with guides and scouts, sometimes both.  I currently have two jobs in scouting, one at County level and one at District level. Other hobbies include growing plants for St John’s church annual plant sale, I belong to an American Square Dance club, and my dogs – who have a very special place in my life.

We moved to Charfield in August 2006 having lived in Almondsbury for 16 years. We love this village and feel so at home here. I work as a mental health worker at Home Farm Trust. My husband is a financial adviser. Our 4 children have all left home. Two are in New York, one in Clifton and one in Bath. I am soon to be 53 and have always wanted to be more involved in where I live

I have lived in Charfield for over 37 years since Mike and I married. We have two grown up children both of whom have left home but live locally and have three grandchildren. I am a qualified nurse and although I took early retirement some four years ago I still work part time at  Southmead Hospital. Having enjoyed the benefits of living in a rural setting over the years I thought that serving as a parish councillor would enable me to make a useful contribution to the village and its community.

patterson_smCouncillor Paul Patterson
I have been involved in the teaching profession for some 40 years, taking early retirement from secondary Headship as a result of health problems and then working part-time as a Local Authority Teacher Recruitment Manager.  I have also served as a governor for several Bristol and South Glos schools.  My hobbies include sports, water-colour painting and astronomy and I am an avid reader.  My wife and I are both semi retired and have 2 married daughters and 2 grandchildren who live in the Bristol area. We have lived in several different parts of S. Glos for over 30 years. Having moved recently to Charfield we are keen to be involved in, and contribute to, the local community and village life
