Play Area Refurbishment

We have been advised by our play area designers, Jane’s Pond, that work on the junior play area will commence on Tuesday 4th May 2010. The work will create a whole new playscape for young children as generally described in our earlier release, and will take about a fortnight.

It is important to understand the inevitable dangers of construction sites, and during construction the area will be fenced off. Please ensure your children and any others you are in contact with stay away from this part of the playing fields while work takes place. We don’t want any accidents. If you see anything untoward, please do get in touch with the Council, or the Police, if appropriate.

After the work has been completed, the area will be grass-seeded. Obviously, and especially if the summer is hot and dry, this will take time to establish. However, we are assuming children will immediately take to the area, and will continue to monitor the growing seed and temporarily fence off sections as required.

Let us know what you think of it! May the fourth be with us…

Annual Parish Meeting

The Annual Parish Meeting will take place on Tuesday 27th April 2010, at 19h30 in the main room of the Memorial Hall. All parishioners are cordially invited to attend.

Annual Parish Meetings are one way in which the community can come together to discuss and debate what is happening in the parish. There is some minor formality to them – there is a set Agenda for example, and it is chaired by the Parish Council Chairman – but there is ample time for any issues to be aired, and the members of the Council will be happy to take questions at the end.

Using the opportunity of the Meeting, we have invited members of South Gloucestershire County Council to speak on subjects important to the life of the parish. Firstly we will have a member of StreetCare presenting an update on the streetlighting initiative, which completes its trial shortly. Following this we will hear from an Officer on the value of creating and holding a Parish Plan (the importance of these for the future development of communities will become clear, and we are hopeful that independant parishioners may wish to take this further).

You can see the .pdf poster - that will be up on noticeboards and shop windows shortly – by clicking here.
