A Cleaner Charfield!

charfield_littera

The “Charfield Spring Clean” ran this year over the weekend of 25th and 26th April, and everyone involved deemed it a great success. Over the two days, approximately thirty parishioners took to the streets, verges and green spaces with litter pickers, gloves and black bags. By the end, the skip in Charfield Memorial Hall, provided by South Gloucestershire Council, was full of retrieved refuse and the village and environs looked markedly cleaner.

Parish Council Chairman Mark Rosher said “It has been a wonderfully successful event, which goes to show how the community can come together and make a difference. I was particularly impressed by the number of children who took part with their parents, not to mention the couple who came back with a hand-trailer load carrying their baby in a backpack! Charfield currently gleams. Let’s keep it that way.”

Councillors who facilitated the clean-up reported that some volunteers suggested the event be moved earlier in the year, and others that we carry out both a spring and an autumn clean. If you have comments or ideas, do please get in touch via the Parish Clerk.
