Another Wotton Road Closure!
Latest News – Wessex Water road closure is to start on Tuesday 14th April (after Easter) and the Little Bristol Lane closure will commence on Tuesday 26th May (after the Spring bank holiday)…………………..!!!
This is early notification of a closure of Wotton Road, entirely separate to that given by Wessex Water (currently postponed until spring 2009). It is given by Gloucestershire County Council and concerns the Wotton Road at the Gloucestershire end of the village, currently planned through February, March and April 2009.
We have only the bare bones of the notification thus far, and it reads:
Please be advised of the following temporary road closure: Wotton Road, Kingswood (1431)
This road will be closed, from its junction with Charfield Road to the county boundary at Watsome Farm, from the 9th February 2009 to 3rd April 2009. This is to allow for drainage works by Gloucestershire Highways. The diversion route will be via B4059, B4060 and B4062. If you require any further information regarding this closure please contact John Roberts at Gloucestershire Highways on 08000 514514.
If you click here you will find a map showing the area concerned and the diversion route suggested.
As you might imagine, Charfield Parish Council have strongly recommended that the two parties, Gloucestershire County Council and Wessex Water, liaise with each other to minimise the inevitable disruption these two road closures will cause. Updates will appear here as we have them.
Update 19.12.2008
We have obtained confirmation from Glos CC that they are liasing with SGlos CC and the roadworks will not be conflicting with each other – it appears the Wessex Water works have been deferred beyond April 2009.
Update 1/2/09 from Glos CC
Please be advised that this closure will now be from 16th March 2009 to 3rd April 2009.
Works will start from 9th February 2009 under traffic signals.
The diversion route will now be via B4059, A38, A4135, B4060, and B4058
If you require any further information regarding this closure please contact John Roberts on 08000 514514
