Railway Disaster 80yrs ago…..
In October it will be 80 years since the unfortunate railway disaster, the fire of which claimed a number of lives during the accident when passing through Charfield. Many accounts of this catastrophe have been written, and rather than regurgutate them, below are a few links to pages which the reader may find interesting……. if they have changed or if you find a more interesting link which i have not – please let me know!

Addendum October 2008:
It was with some surprise that we saw the traffic on this site go from half a dozen or so new visitors per day to some 300! Then we remembered the date and found the BBC had kindly added a link to us on their page about the incident. Just goes to show.

SITA Recycles Plastic Bottles Too!
We are fortunate in South Gloucestershire to have pretty good recycling facilities. We have the four Sort-It centres and the fortnightly collections of green bins and boxes (compostables, paper, tins, glass etc), meaning our residual waste should be minimal.
In Charfield we are even more fortunate now that The Railway Tavern has agreed to site Sort-It bins in the car park. These can take glass bottles (should you not wish to leave them in your green box) and they also take plastic bottles which otherwise are not currently collected. Click on the pic for a larger version.
